Welcome to our new school and website. Ravenswood Middle had many great things that happened this year during our first nine weeks. We moved into our new school that is beautiful. The students, staff, and the administration are all proud of it. As the teachers and staff returned to school, they were treated to a catered breakfast compliments of the administration. On September 17, Dr. Payne, State Superintendent of WV, attended our school dedication with many other state senators and board members in attendance along with all the students. The Ravenswood Middle and High School Chorus, under the direction of Mrs.Knapp, entertained everyone with several songs that left cold chills on this writer.

We also had not one but two open houses. The first one was for the families and students here at Ravenswood Middle, and the second one was for the public. Delegates and other public officials, the Mayor of our beautiful town, Josh Miller, and the city police force came and toured our awesome new school.

Our administration and PBS Committee have rewarded students for good behavior a few times; one of which was an ice cream social on the football field Tuesday afternoon. Thank goodness it was much warmer than this evening. Brrr! So many students were eligible to attend that the administration had to schedule three different times, one for each class, instead off all together. The students here are really a good bunch of kids.

During Red Ribbon Week, there was a lot of things happening. The students decorated their home room/learning skills class door. The winner was Ms.Frazier’s class, second place was a tie between Ms. Huffman’s class and Mrs.DeHart’s class and the third place winner was Mrs. Schoolcraft. It was also Spirit week with many fun days in particular Pajama Day!

As the year goes on there will be many news articles to read about current events at Ravenswood Middle School. Keep returning frequently to see what are great students are doing. Mr. Gump's classes are working on short movies about various parts of our great state. Check back in to start watching some of them.
