Good evening. This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. Wednesday brings much anticipation with the start of a new school year. I am so excited to see our students and employees back in our buildings as we continue to work together to become the #1 school district in our state. We begin this school by sharing wonderful news – Jackson County Schools is now the 5th-ranked school district in WV in ELA and Math proficiency, moving up five spots from last year. We are so fortunate to have a fantastic community of parents and guardians that understand the importance of a first-class education and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students and schools. As I just mentioned, our goal is to be # 1. Leading the state will not come easy. It will take hard work, determination, and perseverance from our children and the entire community to demand high expectations and excellence in our schools. I believe in the power of public education, as well as our parents, our employees, and especially our communities. Anything is possible; we must be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goal. As always, I ask for your patience on the first day of school. There are many moving parts that we will continually perfect throughout the year. Once again, thank you for your support and encouragement as we start another exciting school year. Congratulations on your work being a Top 5 school district in the state of WV. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

WVGSA: Testing begins on Tuesday, 5/2 with Math. We will then have our ELA test on Wednesday, 5/3, our writing portion on Thursday 5/4, and then 8th graders will test in Science on Friday, 5/5. The students and staff have worked very hard this school year. The students now have the ability to show the community, the county and the state how well prepared they are. Testing will take most of the morning each day. We will not be making any announcements, and the bells will be off to minimize interruptions. Reminder--it is very important that students arrive each day in a timely manner to avoid testing delays. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who have made academics a priority. Again, thank you and best wishes to Ravenswood Middle. Bill Heis, Principal
